The Truth Hurts - A Gordon Parks Retrospective
Gordon Roger Alexander Buchanan Parks was an American photographer, musician, writer and film director, who became prominent in U.S. documentary photojournalism in the 1940s through 1970s. Widely regarded as one of the greatest photographers to live his works covered the changing landscape of America and dealt with issues of civil rights, poverty and African-Americans, he became the first African American staff photographer for Life and went on to created some of the most iconic photo essays in Life’s history. During his career he also created work within glamour and fashion photography. Parks was the first African American to produce and direct major motion pictures.
